Objectives:
The seven objectives of the ministry include:
Addressing sexual sin issues of men to include abortion;
Sharing Christ's love for men;
Healing lives from shame in the light of Christ;
Setting men free to protect and provide;
Giving men a safe place to grow, be encouraged, and be strengthened in Christ;
Bringing men before the cross to serve;
Developing men to disciple other men
One day, back in 1973, during my senior year of high school, I found myself standing on a white line
about 10 feet long. Indicating that the line represented the issue of abortion the teacher asked, “So
where do you stand on this topic?” That day I was clearly PRO-LIFE.
In September of the same year, while enjoying hamburgers with a new girlfriend, I was asked that same
question in a different light.
During what became a painfully quiet lunch, she blurted out, “I'm pregnant”. For a few long moments
of thick silence, my failed future life passed before me. She then added, “I want to get an abortion.”
In a matter of seconds, I went from pro-life to pro-abortion, but I did get my future back.
Or did I?
"For in the next nine years I lived in a desert place of shame and dishonor, using the women in my life
and generally destroying their lives in many ways, including another abortion added to my list of “achievements.”
In this ninth year though, I came face to face with the Lord's promise of salvation. The carrier of that
message was a woman that would soon be my wife.
A year later, while having a stressful argument with her, I finally confessed what I considered
unforgivable, the sin of abortion. The argument ceased. That night God unbound me from the
darkness of my past, placing me in His light; on a new path of healing and forgiveness. Today I'm a
man set free, with a heart remolded into His."
A Message from the Director
Men of God, I have been blessed to hear many of your stories.
Like me, your experiences with abortion and other sexual issues are
full of trauma and hidden shame that have changed your life forever.
The Good News, however, is that Jesus Christ will take lives of
shame and darkness, and turn them into lives given over to Him,
closing open wounds and making the sc
ars diminish. His strength by
the renewed Life He Breathes into men becomes theirs.
Beloved, if you are one of these men, His shed blood is enough
for all your sins, not just some, ENOUGH for ALL.
Jesus has given you a Living Hope through His resurrection; a life unbound, set free,
with an inheritance in salvation, a life which is imperishable, undefiled and fade proof. He
has created you to be not only a provider but also a protector of those in your charge.
Ninth Hour Vertical invites you to come and have your 'graveclothes' removed, the
chinks in your armor repaired and refitted so that you might help others do the same
because the battle over the hearts of men is at hand.
Then the LORD replied to me, "If racing against mere men makes you tired, how will
you race against horses? If you stumble and fall on open ground, what will you do in the
thickets near the Jordan? Jeremiah 12:5 NLT
Only in Christ alone can we race against horses and heal this land.
The Situation Today
Sexual sin keeps men from growing closer to the Father and from being effective
ministers for Christ. Much of this sin is manifested today in the area of abortion, though it
is also manifested through pornography and prostitution. For many men, it is something
which has not been effectively dealt with, particularly within in the Church.
In the United States of America today, there are roughly 1.4 - 1.5 million abortions
annually. Of this, it is conservatively estimated that over 250,000 of these are to Evangelical
Christians. Since Roe vs. Wade became law in 1973, over 40 million unborn babies have lost
their lives. Of course, this also means that tens of millions of women and men have been
affected greatly; physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and most importantly, spiritually.
And while all of these abortions are taking place, it seems there is no place for men. Men, who by their very nature are necessary for an abortion to occur, are left out of the current and varied ministries target toward post-abortive women.
Men are not educated as to their rights and responsibilities toward a woman going through a planned or unplanned pregnancy. Men are challenged and are not discipled after thief partner has gone through an abortion, leaving them with all types of feelings and emotions, regardless of their involvement of lack of involvement in the decision.
Raising Awareness
There is a need to raise awareness of this issue today. Men and abortion are simply not
discussed today, especially in the secular world. But men are part of the process and need to
be involved in the outcome.
By raising awareness of the role men have in abortion, the hope is to first, begin to reduce
abortions by getting men to think twice before they create situations which lead to abortion
and second, begin to get men to accept their responsibility toward women, their communities,
and ultimately, God, for their actions.
Accepting Responsibility
By raising awareness of the issue, the process can begin to get men to accept
responsibility for their actions, whether they are post-abortive, with immediate needs,
engaged in a lifestyle of sexual sin, a family member of a man in one of these situations or
simply a man who wants to be a disciple.
Healing
Finally, by raising awareness and getting men to accept responsibility for their actions, the
process of healing can begin. First by getting men to ask for forgiveness from God and
secondly, by getting men to ask women for forgiveness, hopefully introducing them to a life
centered on Christ. The goal is to see men become what God intended them to be not solely
as perpetrators but truly as protectors and providers of the women in their lives.
Available Venues
If you are a man and one of the above descriptions fits you and you would like to do
something about it, then you are invited to join Ninth Hour Vertical. Men are needed to be
involved in one-on-one discipleship, mentoring and counseling, Bible studies and seminars.
“Re-molding men's hearts in the Father.”
